Due to the COVID 19 pandemic the important industry event, AMB in Stuttgart, cannot take place this year in its usual format. "With the AMB Technology Forum in September there is still a good reason to come to the Stuttgart trade fair grounds", says Gunnar Mey, Department Director for Industrial Solutions at Messe Stuttgart. In the AMB week from 14 September various topics will be the focus of presentations and the accompanying table top exhibition. What's planned: software and control, tool solutions, machine elements and peripheral devices, machine tools, as well as machine tool automation.

Online and offline presence

Interested parties can expect compact knowledge and an exchange of information and ideas with the experts on the respective topic every day in the Stuttgart International Congress Center. The aim is to present new technologies and innovations in the presentations, as well as establish new contacts in the matchmaking area where visitors and exhibitors can meet. In the table top exhibition the manufacturers can look forward to personal meetings and questions from visitors. Exhibitors also have the option of recording the presentations on video and making these available on various online channels for everyone who cannot be there in Stuttgart. A maximum of 500 visitors each day is currently planned due to the COVID 19 restrictions.

Positive feedback despite restrictions

Mey confirms that the AMB Technology Forum – in compliance with all currenthygiene and distancing regulations – should make possible the personal exchangeof ideas and opinions and the haptic experience within the framework of aface-to-face event. And the concept is convincing: "The acquisition for the AMB Technology Forum has already started and the feedback so far is positive", adds Mey. The exhibitors want to use the forum to present a selection of their innovations which were originally intended for AMB. Markus Horn, Managing Director at Paul Horn, also confirms this: "We are taking part in the AMB Technology Forum because we are satisfied with Messe Stuttgart and AMB – both as a trade fair and forum." The AMB Technology Forum will be the first opportunity since the start of the COVID 19 pandemic to take part in a high-ranking face-to-face event again. Horn applauds how the combination of  presentation and the option to showcase products in the exhibition is solved. Horn adds: "In my opinion, it is important that the AMB Forum has a signal effect: Life goes on. And this is exactly what we need."

Dr.-Ing. Stefan Hansch, CEO of EMCO, confirms: "Not doing anything in this strained economic situation is not an option for a dynamic industry such as the
machine tool industry." For the AMB Technology Forum, EMCO wants to show the visitors the scope and potential of the EMCO machine range – turning and
milling, horizontal and vertical, from the largest Powermill with an X travel path of 32 m through to the table top machine for training or the conventional machines and naturally integrative automation solutions. EMCO wants to cover almost all requirements with this "modular set-up". "On this occasion, we also want to use the physical proximity to our technology centre in Wendlingen for targeting customers and interested parties", explains Hansch.
Bernd Hilgarth, Sales Director at CHIRON, also highlights how important it is now to have a presence: "The current economic situation coupled with the corona pandemic creates huge challenges for machine tool manufacturers. "This makes it all the more pleasant when the current situation forces us to find new formats - such as the AMB Technology Forum." The CHIRON Group will present solutions in September in Stuttgart which provide visitors with effective support in their current situation. Visitors can also look forward to the active exchange of information and ideas. "The new series and automation solutions allow our customers to increase their productivity and flexibility and also reduce their costs - this means that they are optimally equipped for the coming years", explains Hilgarth.
